Meet Your Doula
Amber's Story

Amber is a childbirth educator & doula certified through the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA). She and her husband Luis have four amazing kids. While not native to the area--she is from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Luis is from New England--they have been blessed to put down roots here in the Pensacola area. Before she realized her calling as a birth educator and doula, Amber graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications and Marketing and then worked for Regions Bank for seven years--it was during this time that her deep connection to birth rooted itself as she became a full-time working mother.

Amber has had the pleasure of serving families in the Pensacola and surrounding areas since 2011 as a doula, childbirth educator, and placenta arts specialist. Since then, she has provided care for all kinds of births--from scheduled cesareans to VBACs, to natural and medicated births. She would love to help you discover your birth path--and join you on your journey if you so choose. After all, this is the greatest adventure you will ever embark on, and every great adventure is better when you have a guide to walk with you!

The Belly to Cradle
Philosophy

Prayer is Powerful. Some expectant parents see this power as well, and choose to integrate it into their birth experience as a way to relieve anxiety, frustration, fear, and tension.

Birth as a natural process. It is not an illness, and in most circumstances (but not all) it is not an emergency. Therefore, it should not be treated like an illness or an emergency unless the  mother, baby, or both are in imminent  danger.

Each woman's body is different, but specifically designed to give birth to her baby.
Each woman's birth will be different, and each woman will have different births each time she has a baby.

Patient autonomy is a necessity. Informed consent and right to refusal are key components to any birth.

Instinctual birth is real. You will know what to do when the time comes. You do not need to be told when to push, where to give birth, or how to care for your baby unless you seek direction and guidance.

Healthcare Providers should be respected. Without doctors, midwives, and nurses, many expectant mothers would face risks, complications, and health concerns that would not be addressed--to the detriment of mother and baby. These professionals deserve respect as key parts of the birth team.
